OYD-NE Online Lesson Instructions

Hello,

Welcome to your free week of our Livestream Membership!

This membership includes:

  • 10:00am* Tai Chi/Qi Gong Moving Meditation Classes Monday – Friday
  • 5:30pm* 8 Martial Arts for Beginners Class on Tuesdays and Thursdays
  • A library Tai Chi/Qi Gong Moving Meditation and 8 Martial Arts for Beginners Classes that you can stream anytime.

*All lesson times are US Eastern Standard Time

After the first week, the price for this content would typically be $75/mo. For those who sign up during this crisis, however, we are offering it all for $20/mo. We chose this price thoughtfully. We would actually prefer to offer the training for free during a time like this, but in addition to the costs associated with hosting the livestreams, we have a team of 20 instructors who depend on our school operations for their livelihood. When your friends and family register for this membership they are not only joining a great training program that has helped countless people over the years, but they are supporting our team through a difficult time.

If you ever have questions please feel free to contact me any time. Hope to see you in the lessons!

Best,

HOW TO ACCESS RECORDED CONTENT

We are in the process of creating an online portal on https://www.oomyungdoe-ne.com in the coming days where you can access future content. In the meantime there are links to two Tai Chi/Qi Gong Moving Meditation Lessons and one 8 Martial Arts Lesson below.

HOW TO JOIN THE LIVESTREAM

All Oom Yung Doe’s online lessons are hosted using Google Meet. You’ll need a little bit of setup to get it working but it’s very easy. All you really need is a phone or a laptop.

STEP 1: REGISTER (IF YOU ALREADY REGISTERED SKIP TO STEP 2)

As a first step we ask that you register on our website.  Enter your name, who referred you, and a little more information about what you are hoping to gain from these lessons.

STEP 2: CONNECTING TO THE SITE

https://meet.google.com/sts-qkzc-kdz

Using a laptop is better than a phone; you’ll see a bigger picture of the instructor. On a laptop just click the link. On a phone you have to install the “Google Meet” app.

Once you click the link you should see a sample of your video feed.

STEP 3: SETTING UP YOUR PRACTICE AREA

Try to set aside some space for yourself. Ideally you should have enough space to take two big steps, both front-to-back and side-to-side. You shouldn’t need more space than that; the existing lessons are designed for a smaller space.

STEP 4: SETTING UP YOUR CAMERA

You’re not obligated to set up video of yourself — you can get direct feedback on your movements if you do, but you’re also welcome just to follow along with the instructor’s video.

If you’re doing video, make sure the camera can see you (head to toe, fingertips to feet if you’re stretching up when you’re all the way at the front of your practice space). You may have to move it back.

If you’re using a phone you may want to angle it downwards so that it can see your feet. If you don’t have a tripod or another way you can accomplish this with a coffee mug:

Once the camera can fully see you, head to toe, switch into the lesson and you should be good to join.

STEP 5: LOCKING THE INSTRUCTOR’S CAMERA

The only other thing you need to do is lock your device to show only the instructor. If you don’t see a list of people joined to the lesson, click the little people icon to show the list of participants:

Once you see the list of people, click the “Online Lesson” participant and click the pushpin so your screen only shows the lesson camera.

STEP 6: ENJOY THE LESSON!
